Overview. Cafe workers prepare and sell food and beverages at cafes, canteens, delicatessens and other outlets. They also make sure the cafe is clean and tidy and ensure money and products are accounted for. Cafe workers work onsite at the cafe or food and drink outlet.

Preparing and serving food, making coffee and tea and collecting money. Ensuring the café is fully stocked and can meet the menu at all times, notifying the Operations Manager or kitchen staff of any shortage. Clean the café areas, inside and outside and ensure they are safe and hygienic at all times.

Preparing and serving food and beverages for consumption on the premises.
Taking customers’ food and beverage orders.
Operating cash registers, accepting payments and preparing sales invoices.
Clearing away used dishes and cutlery from tables when customers are finished.
Cleaning and preparing tables for use.

The Café Assistant will help towards the smooth running of the café. They will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, both in working methods and personal hygiene, making sure that the food and equipment in the kitchen is always clean and in the right place.
